Hope & Union

Hope & Union, Teesside Foodie

Hope & Union is an absolute hidden gem tucked away in Stockton’s ‘cultural corner’ it’s a must for anyone who loves great food, gins and cask ales in a funky spot – it ticks all the boxes for me!

Hope & Union has been a fave since I first stepped in quite a while ago, not only is the place really friendly and relaxed it’s got such a funky vibe to it too. There’s so much to choose from in terms of gins and beers, but they will always recommend something to your taste which is really helpful when you’re faced with a huge array of choice. They have a range of events and live music taking place all the time and gin nights too, so keep your eye out.

Now the food!

I seem to always get a few of the small plates because I’m addicted to their amazing scotch eggs, goats cheese bon bons and unbelievable chips. I definitely need to try more on the menu but I just can’t help it, as soon as I step into Hope & Union I just need the melty goodness of that scotch egg.

Their menu is not too big and not too small either, with plenty of options for everyone for breakfast, lunch and dinner – they even have Yorkshire pudding wraps on the menu. Their homemade smokey tomato sauce deserves a shout out too, if I remember correctly it’s made with beer which adds the smokiness to it and it’s spot on. They use local ingredients which is another added bonus; if you support local independent businesses this is the place you need to be.

There’s just something about this place – if you’re in the area it’s a must!
