Last week I went to Hope & Union’s first steak night; a new weekly event taking place every Tuesday and costing £29.95 for 2, how could you say no?
Hope & Union in Stockton is one of my fave places, I’ve already wrote a review a few months back on their normal menu here. Over the past couple of month’s they’ve had a few different nights, from gin night to vegan night and I could never make the dates. Luckily I could make their first steak night last week and I was buzzing!
The Steak Night included a 10oz Kitson’s rib eye steak, chips, salad, mushroom, grilled tomato and a glass of wine for two people, it still baffles my brain at how good the food was for the price.
I love how Hope & Union use local suppliers and Kitsons butchers have always been a favourite, they do a cracking pork pie, also served in Hope & Union. So to get such a good piece of steak within the deal is insane!
You get the option to upgrade your steak to different cuts, I kept with the rib-eye which was juicy and tasty just how steak should be. You could also add sauces too, I went for garlic and mushroom and my friend went for the pepper sauce and they both had so much flavour and all made by Hope & Union. I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned a side salad in a review before, but I have no idea what the dressing was but it was one of the best side salads I’ve ever had.
There was a few side options that you could add on and we went for the beer battered onion rings, in all honesty I’m usually never a fan. But, I now like Hope & Union’s haha, they were really chunky and the batter was crispy, I think i’ve just had so many bad onion rings that I was put off until now, just look at how good they are!
I’ll definitely be going to their steak night again, what else can you do on a Tuesday? I’ll probably go for a different steak cut next time and a different sauce. Even with upgrades it’s still an absolute steal for such quality and deliciousness! Everyone in Hope & Union are so lovely and friendly, and apparently they do a mean veg curry – I best give it a try.
